I haven't blogged in awhile.. I've been so busy doing NOTHING! It's a great feeling :) Isaac & I have enjoyed having time off from school. We're kinda sad that next Christmas we won't be getting a month off because we'll be out in the real world of working.

We had a fabulous Christmas in Kentucky with my family. We were there for 2 weeks and spent lots of time with family and friends. I'm so thankful that I have such awesome parents and sister! We are so close and such good friends! I got to spend a little time with my friend Sara and her cute baby Cora. It seems like all of my friends have kids or are pregnant.. maybe it's my turn next? HAHA! I'll wait a little longer :)

We also spent lots of time with our friends, the Benson's. Curtis is a 3rd year dental student at UK (lucky!) and became fast friends with my parents through their love of bluegrass music. Gail & Curtis are awesome and hilarious. They are pretty much family now! They came over for dinner one night, along with my good friend from high school, James. James plays the banjo so he came over to jam with everyone.

Most importantly though Isaac & I went to the Louisville vs. UK game! Of course my dad got us sweet tickets. I may or may not have yelled/swore at the refs some that game. BUT we pulled it out and beat the Cards. Thank goodness! I hate losing.

Isaac found out some great news over the break! He was accepted into the AEGD program in the Army. It is a 1 year residency (Advanced Education in General Dentistry) that gives him opportunities to do more complex procedures like implants, harder root canals, 3rd molar extractions, etc. than what he learns in school. There are 6 bases where this program is and we find out at the latest Feb. 15th where we will be spending the next year! One of them is Ft. Campbell in KY and obviously I would LOVE to move "home" for a year :)

We are starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Isaac passed his 2nd set of written boards! woo hoo! I knew he would. He is such a smarty pants. I take my written boards in March and we both take WREB (clinical boards) at the end of April. Then.. graduation! FINALLY. These past 2 years in hygiene school have been hard, but fun. I love my classmates! We have so much fun together.

It's been a tough couple of weeks in my family. My grandpa, my mom's dad, died suddenly after a horrible car wreck. The wreck happened last Tuesday and he passed away that Friday. I loved my grandpa very much and he was always so supportive of everything I did, and especially liked to hear about how school was going. He really encouraged education, especially for women. I have him, and my grandma, to thank for raising such a wonderful daughter, my mom. The only thing that is really helping me get through this is the knowledge we have of life after death, and that my grandpa is now with my grandma after 6 years of being apart when she passed away from lung cancer. I will miss seeing him but I know that I will be reunited with him and all of my other relatives that have passed on in Heaven.

Last weekend Isaac & I headed up to Lincoln, NE to watch Ohio State play the Cornhuskers. One of my dad's customers are HUGE Ohio St. fans and have ties to the university so they were able to get us 4 tickets to the game! Isaac's family friend Dave and his family live up in NE so we met up with them to go to the game. Even though the Bucks lost we still had so much fun! Isaac & I love to travel to watch our teams. The true fans are the ones that travel for away games :)

p.s. It was the official start of basketball season Friday. Yes I watched about 2 glorious hours of UK's first practice of the season! We have a team full of studs (again) and I'm SO freaking excited for the first game. We made it to the final four last year and I'm expecting bigger things for our team this year :) GO CATS!!

Pun totally intended :) my dad built a beautiful rock wall in the backyard of my house in Kentucky. He is so talented in so many different things in life and I love that I have such a diverse father :) this is just one of his many projects. Of course just in time before they move out to their new houseon the farm haha! My dad is excited to really beutify the farm with walking trails and rock walls.

Again...I cannot WAIT to move back. I love this beautiful place way too much to live away for this long!

not that anyone reads this blog (heck, even I don't anymore!), but I guess I should update for my personal records :) Since I last blogged, um, forever ago, a lot of stuff has happened! Not that exciting, but both Isaac & I have been busy. My school year ended mid-May and I had a WONDERFUL summer!

[Last day of 1st year clinic]

I went home for 3 weeks in June and had a perfect time. I say this everytime I write about going home, but I really do love Kentucky. Especially Lexington. And especially being with my family and friends :) I don't tell many people this because they might get the wrong idea (disclaimer: I LOVE being married!) but I love when I go home and people still call me Leanne Thomas OR Sister Thomas at church because they don't know my married name. I love being a Thomas :) But I also love being a Sebourn!!

Isaac had a busy summer with being in clinic pretty much everyday. Then he went to San Antonio for a 3 week externship in oral surgery. It was at the Brooke Army Medical Center and now he is unsure of whether or not he wants to do oral surgery. It is WAY more involved than a residency at a private institution like OU or UK, because it's the Army and they have to know SO MUCH MORE. Not that Isaac is lazy and doesn't want to study, he just wouldn't see me for 4 years. He really wants to love it before we commit to that. He is still going to apply and we'll go from there! If he doesn't get in, I won't be too sad because that will be 4 more years CLOSER to moving back to Kentucky!!

I got to visit Isaac during his 2nd week in San Antonio. I had class on Monday 3 weeks in a row, and of course they were the 3 weeks Isaac was gone so I could only go down in between class. We had a great time! We went to Sea World, walked around the riverwalk, and ate some awesome food (the most important part!).

Now we've started back in school...for our last year!!! My life has become way more hectic with clinic starting next week and overwhelming with all of my requirements. But come next May, after we both are done with boards and school, it will be awesome! Then we leave for a celebratory vacation in Europe!

Hope everyone's summer was great! I'm hoping our heat wave ends soon. Did you know that in July, Oklahoma recorded the highest average temperature for any state ever in history?! That's how hot it's been here. With no rain. It's been awful!

isaac & i just got back from an awesome trip to peru! we went with 5 other couples: my parents, jimmy & krisann charles, katie & blaine hansen, katy & mike hall, and john & renee hall. we had BLAST! we got down to peru on sunday, spent a few days in lima and cusco until we started the hike on tuesday morning. WOW! what a freaking hard hike! actually, it wasn't as bad as i expected it to be. my dad did the hike 11 years ago with his friends and they did it in 1.75 days (it's supposed to be a 4 day hike). we did it in a little less than 3 days. i'll post some pictures here but to see the rest, you can go to my facebook and look at the album!

the highest peak we climbed was ~14,000 feet above sea level. then we climbed right back down on the other side..and right back up on another mountain. although it was only 35 miles, the constant changes in the altitude is what makes it so hard.

the hike was beautiful & we had great weather. we had so much fun & the end result of seeing machu picchu made the hike SO worth it. we can't wait for the next couples hike, wherever it may be!

wow time has FLOWN by! it's so crazy. isaac & i got back from hawaii and got right back into school mode. well, kinda. the first 2 weeks of school we had 2 HUGE snowstorms that kept us out for 7 days. but alas, we have had to go to school for the full week ever since :(

the first weekend in feb. isaac and i volunteered at the oklahoma mission of mercy. it was a 2 day free dental clinic and there were about 2000 patients seen and helped! a lot of isaac's and my classmates also came and we had a lot of fun. i got to be a translator which was AWESOME. it also meant i got to look like a school crossing guard...

now onto march.. our 1st day in clinic! we have been seeing eachother as patients for awhile now, so this was our "real" patient day :) it went SO well for all of us and i'm so excited for what's in store over the next year! i love the girls in my class; i have made best friends for life!

can't wait for spring break! isaac & i, along with my parents and a few other couples will be hiking the inca trail! i'm SO excited to go back to south america and also show isaac what he's been missing out on his whole life ;)

Isaac & I just got back from a wonderful vacation in Hawaii with my family! It was a perfect 2 weeks in paradise doing absolutely nothing but reading, relaxing, watching movies, taking naps, and of course, EATING! We also went on some short hikes, hung out at the beach and pool with our friends, the Budways, and played tennis and volleyball. We love Hawaii, especially the Big Island, because it never rains (on the Kona side where we stay), the beautiful contrast of the volcanic rock & green grass and palm trees, and it's not crowded like Oahu (if you go to hawaii, DON'T stay in honolulu!)Here are some pictures of our trip:

We had such a fun Thanksgiving but man, it was HECTIC! We got to Kentucky on Wednesday to be with my family and then we drove up to Wheeling, WV on Thursday to be with some of Isaac's family, Noah and Mel (who live there) and Aaron and Carolyn (who came over from Ohio). We came back to Kentucky on Friday and then left Sunday for OKC. We stuffed our faces with delicious food, watched football, modern family, and movies and had SO much fun! We love getting to be with family that we don't get to see often. Unfortunately, I only got pictures at my house because I forgot my camera when we went up to Noah and Mel's place. AND I got to see 2 of my best girlfriends, one of who just had a baby!! Hope you all had a great time with friends and family!

So about a year and a half ago my mom taught me how to make sushi. My family loooooves sushi (our favorite place is Happy Sumo in Utah..oh yum) and I was SO excited when my mom learned how to from our good friend, Juile Nichols. Since then I have been making it allll the time and when I brought it to school, I had a few girls ask me to teach them! We set up our sushi station in a classroom during lunch and had a blast! I am LOVING dental hygiene school and I have such a GREAT group of girls along for the ride with me. We have become fast friends and talk... A LOT haha. Our teachers have been great and really like our class, so that helps :) 1 semester down, 3 to go!!!!

i.love.my.family. SO SO SO much! what a fabulous weekend we had. last friday my parents came into town to hang out with us and to go to the open house at my school! little did i know that my weekend was about to get so much better! after the open house on friday and eating a delicious meal at red lobster, isaac got a call from "mike" (his brother) saying that he needed him to help him with something. actually it was my dad calling him to let him know it was time to leave. leave for what you might ask? TO GET MY SISTER!! I was lying in bed, annoyed that isaac was taking a long time with his brother, when i finally heard him come in. he asked if he could turn on the light, and i said no, and next thing ya know my sister jumped on my bed!! i was SHOCKED! my mom heard me screaming and she goes, is that alex?!!

yes. my dad, the super awesome dad that he is, surprised me AND my mom by flying alex out from utah (she goes to utah state university) for the weekend to be with all of us!!!! it was great. we had a weekend full of football, food, modern family, and hanging out. it makes me SO excited to move back home after school so this can be more of a regular occurence :D

This past Tuesday we went to Tulsa with our friends Jessica & Kevin for the Thunder's preseason game. We had great tickets and best of all, they were free! Jessica was in my assisting class last year and has become one of my best friends! I love her to pieces!

hygiene school

So far I am really enjoying school. It's been fairly easy since I learned most of what we're learning about last year during dental assisting. I have wonderful classmates who are already becoming fast friends of mine. Here are some pictures...

other than school, nothing too exciting has happened. we are LOVING the fall weather and that it's finally cooled down but we are not looking forward to winter, except for our vacation to hawaii which will help us deal with the cold :)

-my cousin clinton is stopping by on his way out to move to arizona
-my parents are coming out at the end of the month
-the Thunder's season starting (which means lots of fun NBA games to go to!)
-WICKED is coming to tulsa!
-thanksgiving break and (maybe) a trip to KY and TN to watch the UK vs Tenn football game
-HAWAII!

we are just having a wonderful time being married and having our own little life. it's fun having no responsibilities and doing things whenever we want to. that will come to an end in 2 years when we graduate, so for now, we're livin' it up!

OK, maybe it's the second, only to the start of Kentucky's basketball season. But here in the Sebourn house, we LOVE college football!! Our Saturday's are consumed with watching as many games as we can and of course cheering on our favorite teams. OK, so UK isn't the best but I love my Cats. And this year there seems to be a pretty good chance that Ohio State will make it to the championship game! Which of course means we HAVE to go! It's in Arizona and I will not mind leaving the cold to watch them play :)

Isaac and I grew up with very different loyalties so sometimes it gets a little heated. But who said competition is bad?! :) I love Kentucky and therefore support the SEC. Isaac loves Ohio State and (sometimes) supports the Big Elev, er, Ten. (I like to make fun of him because his conference can't count). In recent years the SEC has been DOMINATING the other conferences in National Title games and other bowl games. Hopefully the tide won't turn because my family and I like talking smack to Isaac. (I love you, sweethart)

Anyway, enjoy this wonderful time of the year by cheering on your favorite team! But if it's not Kentucky or Ohio State, I hope they lose :) Especially if you are a BYU [fair-weather] fan :)

After Isaac returned to Lexington from San Antonio we took a fun trip to Boston, New York City, and Washington D.C.! We had SO much fun but it was really exhausting walking everywhere. Here are some pictures :)

And we will need a nice, relaxing vacation after the hard semester that's ahead of us. We are both back into full swing with school and so far I LOVE my classmates. I just got back from a GREAT vacation out in the northwest! My parents and sister had planned a trip to go out there to meet up with our friends the Gates who used to live in Lexington and whose oldest daughter goes to Utah State with my sister. Since Isaac was going to be gone for 6 weeks and I was coming home, my parents bought me a ticket to go out with them! I have now found my new favorite place to vacation in the summer. We got out to Seattle late Thursday night and Friday morning we drove about an hour and a half over to the cost to catch the ferry to Lopez Island. What a beautiful part of our country! The air was cool and crisp and it was so relaxing. We stayed on Lopez until Tuesday morning and then we came back to Seattle. We had a red eye back to Lexington that night so we got to spend all day in Seattle! I could so live there. We went down to Pike Place and watched them throw the fish (which i realy wanted to do, but I guess only the workers can), bought a bunch of cherries, and then got some lunch. We then did some shopping at H&M, went to the theatre to see Inception (GREAT movie!) and then went to dinner at Ivar's for dinner. If you ever go to Seattle, go to Ivar's! Awesome seafood!

Last night as I was flipping through the channels on the TV I ran across this news that has me very disturbed and angry. I do not have children yet but most of you that read my blog do so I wanted to share it anyway, because at some point in the next few years we will have kids and I am worried about raising them in the environment that now surrounds us.

A school district in Helena, Montana has designed a new sex-education program for grades K-12 that is the very opposite of what I believe and want to teach in my home. I'll put up 2 links that give you more information about it. The first is a summary of what will be taught and the second is the interview that I watched with a parent and a news reporter at Fox news. (By the way, although I am pretty conservative, I don't normally watch Fox or think that it is the only news station that I can get information from)

It's scary to think this could start happening all over the country. Let's make sure to be involved with decisions that affect how our children taught outside the home! I think there are so many great things about public/private schools over homeschooling; I loved going to school to learn and hang out with friends, so I will never homeschool my kids, but I might send them to a private Christian school if this is what's being taught in the future

i have been lucky enough to be married to this guy for over 2 years now! (yes, i have lost all track of time with blogging since being home)

june 14, 2008 -- BEST day of my life!

i sure am missing him right now! he's off being an army man in san antonio for 6 whole weeks. he left on june 13th and will be back in lexington on july 28th. but i do get to talk to him every night and text throughout the day, including sending him word jumble puzzles to keep him awake during his classes about learning to be an officer in the army. this isn't like regular boot camp, he stays in a hotel with his own kitchen area and maids (so this is where your tax dollars are going haha) and takes classes during the day and some physical training. but his last 3 weeks, most days are going to be spent in the field, learning how to do patrols, shooting guns (he is SO excited!) and "real" army stuff, even though his job in the army will be fixing people's teeth :)

so isaac left on the 13th and i flew out to kentucky on the 14th (great anniversary, huh? hehe). i would have died if i had to stay in oklahoma all by myself for that long! i have LOVED LOVED LOVED being home, being in my old room, and being spoiled by my parents! i get to hang out with the greatest people on earth, my family. i get to run in the morning around tall, green trees and beautiful green grass. my parents are in the beginning stages (meetings with the architect, no construction just yet) of building a house out on our farm and it makes me so excited to do the same sometime in the future!

because in august i start dental hygiene school!! i got my acceptance letter last saturday and cannot be more excited! i've worked very hard for this and they only accept 12 people per year so it's a great accomplishment. it's perfect timing too because isaac & i will graduate at the same time. so if you ever decide to come to oklahoma, let me clean your teeth! :D

what we've been up to.

school. school. oh and more school. i am SO ready for it to be done! our finals week is coming up soon and we both have post-session classes too that will go until the middle of june.

my dental assisting class is up at the OUHSC now assisting the 3rd and 4th year dental students and the residents in oral surgery, perio, and ortho. it has been so much fun and i've loved getting to see isaac more! we will be there for about 3 more weeks and then we get to go to private offices for our post session and then we will be DONE! i'm hoping that i get my acceptance letter into dental hygiene school soon!

other than hanging out with friends, that's pretty much all we've been up to! we're both so ready for summer and all the fun we have planned! isaac was supposed to go to officer training for 6 weeks in fort sam houston starting june 13th BUT he just found out that it got so full that they moved the HPSP students to slots AFTER they graduate. it's good and bad, i wanted to get it over with but i'm happy i'll get to spend his last open summer with him! unfortunately, i had already made plans to travel with my family to seattle and my flight is out of lexington, so we're trying to figure what we're going to do for isaac. i was really looking forward to spending the summer with my family mowing lawns!

isaac and i are also looking forward to our east coast trip! in august we are flying out to boston and then driving to nyc, down to philly and then DC and then flying home. we're so excited and aaron and carolyn (BIL & SIL) are going with us too so it's going to be a blast! isaac has never been to any of those places so i'm excited to show him the big cities!

oh! we tore out these hideous bushes in front of our house and planted flowers. hopefully they survive the super hot summer here!

I hope this finds everyone healthy & happy! We had a GREAT Christmas and New Year in Kentucky. It was so nice not to have ANY school/homework/studying and we took full advantage of being bums next to the fire. We got to KY on my birthday and went to the UK game that night, which happened to be the 2,000th win! We beat that other blue team to it 1st so that was pretty exciting.

Isaac & I both were blessed with awesome gifts this year but the best one really was just being home. It was so nice to be able to spend a lot of time with my family and we even got to see Noah & Mel and Aaron & Carolyn towards the end of our break! So it was a great Thomas/Sebourn vacation :) We went down to Nashville to watch UK play in their bowl game. It was freezing and we lost. BUT we still had a great time! My dad's friend Jimmy came all the way from the Philippines to see the CATS and we stayed up late after the game playing Scum or "Dal Mute" as they call it in PI.

Besides seeing our families, the best part of our trip was going to the UK vs. Louisville game. In the 2nd row. Like the REAL 2nd row. We sat about free throw line and the players were seriously 10 feet from us! What a battle the game was and it felt so good to beat the Cardinals. AND to top it off, our picture made it to the Courier-Journal (the Louisville paper) and SportsIllustrated.com!

So we're back in OKC now and very happy to be in our own house again and have a more normal routine. Isaac started back to school Monday and I start next Tuesday. Isaac got his scores back from the 1st part of the dental boards and passed! I knew he would, he is so smart!

Also, what is up with everyone I know getting pregnant? Crazy. Don't you worry though, we are still going strong just the 2 of us :) We love our little life together and have many travel plans coming up and can't wait!

Oh, and did I mention...

Christmas Time's A-Comin'!

We had a WONDERFUL Thanksgiving, thanks to our awesome family here in OK and our "family" of friends too :D We had 2 dinners (I know, lucky us!) one at Mike & Laura's (My BIL and SIL) with the whole family and one with our ward friends @ Meg & Brent's house. Isaac and I have enjoyed all the leftovers :D

But now it is the CHRISTMAS season! yay! I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this time of year. It's my birthday soon and I love Christmas, with all the singing, lights and presents and being around family and good friends We are going home to Kentucky for a few weeks but until then, we had to decorate our house and have our own tree! So on Friday we went and picked one out @ Home Depot and got a great looking tree! It's a frasier fir and our house smells great now. It's so important to me to have a real tree, it just makes Christmas, Christmas!

So just a few more weeks of school and finals week to go this semester! I can't wait to have our MONTH LONG break and relax @ home next to the fire :) It's been a realllly busy semester but I've enjoyed school so much. Isaac will enjoy next semester a lot more since he will have taken boards by then. He has been studying so hard and I know he'll do great, the smarty pants that he is. He takes them Dec. 19th ... so pray hard for him! Other than school, not much has been going on. My parents & cousin Clinton came out for a weekend to visit us which was AWESOME! We loved having them, especially to watch football with on Saturday.

holy cow i have been SO busy these past 2 months! school is in full swing and the little spare time i have is being taken up by isaac and sleeping. but i do love being in a classroom and actually learning instead of sitting at home having my brain rot by watching oprah and dr. oz (so says isaac). life is very busy for us both but we're doing great and are very happy!

this past weekend we got to go to KENTUCKY!!! you know how i feel about going home :D it was our fall break and our neice (little ruthie, noah and mel's daughter) was getting blessed AND it was big blue madness for the best basketball team of all time. yes, i'm extremely biased. so we headed out on thurs night and came back sunday night and had a GREAT time! here are some pictures to prove it!!

oh my what a great summer it's been! our vacation to utah, hanging out in oklahoma and then spending 3 wonderful weeks in KENTUCKY!! 2 of my best friends, angela & sara, had their weddings and my dad turned 50 so we had a party for him!

angela and grant's wedding was amazing. i'm so glad i got to be in it! i've known her since 1st grade at our spanish school and we were in school together all the way through high school and we have LOTS of great memories! she will always be an adopted thomas girl and is always welcome on any SEC tournament trips :D

then the next week was sara and gabe's wedding! i've know gabe since we were in primary and he and his family have been great friends of mine and my family. i don't remember when i exactly met sara, probably when i was 11 or 12 (she was in a different ward than i was) and the first thing we had in commen was our crush on mr. billy hymas haha. but that phase passed quickly and we were onto the next guy and became best friends! we went to high school together and really became great friends in choir and our many earrrrly mornings in seminary :) i love her to death and i'm so happy that she and gabe are MARRIED!

finally onto my dad's birthday. what an old man! actually i don't think he's old at all. im sure he'd all want everyone to know how chisled his abs are (because he's always going around saying "now isn't this impressive for a man so old?!") and how "with it" he is. he is the best dad ever and i'm so blessed to have had that wonderful man raise me and be so involved with my life. happy birthday, dad! i love you!!

so here i am sitting at home while isaac is out playing in california with his brother and eric (my sister-in-law's brother) at blizzcon. i'm happy for him :) he is finally getting a chance to travel and have lots of fun! i can't wait for him to get back on sunday and tell me alll about the "sweet" and "awesome" tournaments he gets to watch his starcraft hero's play in... :) that's all for now. we both start up school again on the 24th and that's the last time i'll see my husband til christmas.. it's the semester to take part 1 of boards! ah! actually, isaac is awesome about staying home to study and he doesn't really need to study too much so i'm greatful for that. hopefully our kids get some of those smart genes!

yay for summer! if only it weren't so dang hot here. but i shouldn't complain, the winters are awesome so i can deal with the heat for a few months. isaac finished school mid june and since then we've moved into our house and gone to utah for vacation! i'll post pictures of the house once we have everything organized...

as for the utah trip we had a BLAST! i never thought i'd miss it so much, but the friendships and relationships with family we have out there are so strong and we miss everyone dearly! we flew in thursday morning and spent the day with my grandma and then up in brigham city with my aunt, uncle and cousins. we went to the oqirrh mountain temple and the coppermine with my grandma and then had dinner up in brigham city, followed by a pretty competitive game of 4-square.

thursday night we headed down to draper to stay at our friends steve & meg's place! we stayed with them the whole time (thank you!) and over the next 4 days hung out with them and the rest of our group of friends. we also got to visit with the comstock's which was awesome! they are a family that isaac got really close to on his mission. we had a delicious father's day dinner with them, thanks kelly for the steak! the whole trip was so fun and we can't wait to see everyone again next year! we decided we want to make an annual trip out to utah because we miss it too much :)

so now we're unpacking and getting ready for my sister to come out next week! i can't wait to start decorating and painting everything with her. isaac will finish up the resarch down at the school in a few weeks and then we're headed out to KY for a nice looong visit!!! i have 2 weddings to go to (!!!!) and my dad's 50th birthday party. so much to look forward to!

happy anniversary to us! we have been married a year now and boy how fast it went! our anniversary was on june 14 but since we were in the middle of a move to our house i didnt have time to blog about it. i amazed each day at how wonderful my life is and how much closer isaac and i have gotten. i love everything about him and he makes me so happy! i am so blessed to have been married in the temple to my sweetheart & to know that we will be married for eternity. i can't wait for the many years we will have together and all the new things that life will bring us!!

Dallas Trip

This past week some of my friends and I went down to Dallas! We are all first year dental school wives and having them as friends has made it so much easier to live here so far from family & friends. We left on Wednesday and came back Saturday and had a blast shopping, hanging out and staying up way too late. We owe a HUGE thank you to Keri's aunt for letting us take over her house! Hopefully this will be the frist of other little getaways over the next 3 years.

This past Wednesday, 2 of my best friends got engaged.. to each other!! Gabe and I have grown up together and been friends since our primary days and there is no other word to describe my friendship with Sara except CRAZY! She's my girl, and I love her to death. Sara and Gabe started dating (kinda) right before Gabe left on his mission. Now 2 years and a few months later they are ENGAGED!! I am beyond thrilled and know they will have the best life together! I can't wait to see them get sealed and experience how great being married is. Yay for LOVE!!

2010. Maui Classic. Kentucky Basketball. Can't Wait!

Ok, we don't know if we're going yet. Isaac and I both have more than enough skymiles to go and it wasn't hard to convince my parents to go with us, it's just the school factor. The tournament is the Mon-Wed before Thanksgiving, so we have to see if Isaac and I can get out of school. Which might be kinda tough because we have to buy our plane tickets 335 days before.. But we are hopeful! I mean, what teacher wouldn't support this?!! Especially because OU will also be in it. We will keep you updated on our quest to go to Maui!

Spring Break!

I realize this is a little late, like a whole month late, but oh well. Our spring break was awesome! First, my brother-in-law and his fiance came out here to Oklahoma for a week! It was a blast having them around and we did lots of fun stuff like go to the zoo, eat at Pop's, and have a seriously competitive game of Spoons.

We are so excited because next time we see them, they will be getting married!! :) A few days after Aaron and Carolyn left, my parents came out!! I love the time they take to come out here, even for just a short visit. We went to the Elton John & Billy Joel concert (AMAZING by the way. A lifelong dream fulfilled!), ate some delicious food, and had fun hanging out. I drove back to Kentucky with my parents and stayed there for a week.

I had so much fun seeing my friends and hanging out with them and my family. Everytime I go home it makes me miss KY even more and I can't WAIT to get back there when school/army is over! But I sure was happy when I landed at the airport in Oklahoma City because I missed Isaac and was sad he couldn't come to KY with me. Then to top off our few weeks of family/friends, more of my in-laws came to town! Isaac's brother Joe and his wife Krista came in for some job interviews (Joe is graduating this May from Dental School at Ohio State) and Janice, Isaac's mom, came too! I love having my in-laws come visit because we don't get to see them very often.

In other news, UK got a new coach! YIPPEEE!!! John Calipari, the former coach of Memphis, is now our coach! UK made him the highest paid basketball coach! Thank you to our boosters :D He is an outstanding recruiter, a great family guy, arrogant enough, and a terrific coach! He and Rick Pitino (the little brother's coach) have a big rivalry which will bring more fight to the UK-U of L games :) He has already brought in one of the top recruits and will hopefully get 2 more that were originally going to Memphis but now aren't.

Can I get a halle-freaking-lujah? Yesterday, Coach Billy Gillespie was FIRED as the head men's basketball coach at the University of Kentucky. Thank goodness they didn't give him another year. Our program was left in ruins from Tubby Smith's last few years and Billy G didn't do anything to make it better. He is an a-hole on and off the court, he is a drunk and chases women, and was not the right man for the job. It is HIS fault he was fired because he didn't accept the whole job, he only wanted to be the basketball coach (and even at that he wasn't any good). But there also needs some blame placed on the Athletic Director Mitch Barnhart, who hired Coach G in the first place without a lot of background info. I hope he gets canned too... So the search is on for our new coach, the man who will lead the the nation's top basketball program ever (and if you want to dispute that FACT, I have a lot of amo to back it up :D).

In other news, my family FINALLY comes home from Europe today!! They have been traveling throughout Italy and Greece and it has sucked big time not being able to talk to them. This is going to be a super fun month because my brother-in-law and his fiance are coming out here this Sunday and are staying for about a week and then after that I'm going HOME! I'm so looking forward to all the great times with family that are coming up. My parents are driving out here in about a week and 1/2 (for the Elton John concert!!!) and I am driving back with them to Lexington. I found a great deal on a one way ticket back to Oklahoma and I've been wanting to go home for awhile. Plus, I'll be home for the State Basketball Tournament!

Also, I got an interview for the Dental Hygiene program! It's next Monday and it pretty much decides my fate to get in.. AHH! I'm nervous and I hope it goes well. If I get in, I'll be starting school this August!! Isaac is still doing awesome in school and kicking it's trash.

Can I just say how much I LOVE Oklahoma "winters?"! It's more like spring! I think today it's supposed to get in the 70's. Besides the downfall of tornadoes, I have loved the weather. It still gets cold but it has been a very mild winter. I hope this keeps up while we are here ;)

I know this is a little late and I don't have an excuse why I haven't blogged about the best weekend ever! At the beginning of February Isaac told me to not check his email and that he had a surprise for me for Valentine's day. FINALLY Valentine's weekend comes and Thursday night Isaac tells me to pack my bags for 2 days and that we are leaving Friday afternoon after school! So we get in the car and start heading East. Luckily for Isaac, I don't know exactly where all the states line up so the surprise carried on a lot longer than he thought it would. After about 2 1/2 hours we cross the border into Arkansas (I thought it was south east of Oklahoma and that Tenn. was just east. I guess I should study the map...) Now you might think, what's so great about Arkansas? Lemme tell ya. Kentucky had an away game IN Fayetteville, Arkansas! I had told Isaac way back in October when the schedule came out that we should go over to Fayetteville and watch the game since it's only 3 hours away. Well Isaac tricked me into thinking he had planned something else, and surprised me with tickets to the game!! Seriously I have the best husband ever. Although he thinks he has the best WIFE ever (he does) because he got to go to a basketball game on Valentine's day :) Kentucky whipped Arkansas and Jodie Meeks scored a record high for Bud Walton Arena. Plus, we stayed at the Holiday Inn Express which has become one of my favorite places to stay because of the great breakfasts! We came back Sunday afternoon after having an awesome time cheering on the Cats!

Nope, not the fun game. Actual twisters! Yesterday I got my first taste of Oklahoma weather: Tornados. This isn't my first tornado though... Last March Isaac and I flew out to Atlanta from Utah for the SEC basketball tournament. The Kentucky game was just minutes from starting so there weren't many people outside and we were waiting for my dad to come give us our tickets. It had stormed a bit earlier but it had stopped raining and was clearing up on our walk down to the game. All of a sudden a HUGE tornado started up and touched down RIGHT WHERE WE WERE. I was OUTSIDE huddled in a corner with my sister, my cousin, and my friend Angela and a few other random people. It was an F2 tornado that ripped up downtown. It was the scariest thing that had ever happened to me.

On Monday the weather man said we would have bad weather on Tuesday, with the possibility of tornados. So of course I was freaked out, especially because I would be at work and Isaac would be at school. It started getting dark about 2:00 in the afternoon so I turned on my boss' TV to listen to the weatherman. It kept getting worse and worse and the rotations of the clouds were getting stronger. It tore up a Chuck E. Cheese and Target on the West side of OKC and then touched down about 5 miles north of where I work (Edmond, OK). I watched the tornado live as it touched down in Edmond and got so scared. But hey, at least I was inside this time! :) Nobody died in Edmond, but 8 people died down in Lone Grove which is in the southern part of Oklahoma. And this was abnormal weather for Oklahoma! I sure can't wait for tornado season... AH!

We are in the Army!!

So this is a little late, but I have been so sick the past week (and so has Isaac) that I haven't really done much of anything. Hopefully I'm on the mend :) So last Monday we got the call from the Army Recruiter and were told that Isaac got accepted for this semester! Because of the ice storm and school being cancelled for 3 days, Isaac didn't swear in until last Thursday. He is now 2nd Lt Sebourn! YAY! What that means is, they start paying for school this semester, we get our monthly living stipend, and we got the signing bonus. It is a huge relief and we are so excited, especially because we feel so good about the decision. After dental school Isaac will owe the Army 4 years of service. We realllly hope to live overseas in Germnay or Italy. What an awesome experience that would be!

Either this summer or next (most likely next) Isaac will go to officer training (a little different than basic training, he will be in more of a classroom setting with a lot less physical training) for 6 weeks. I am so happy and so proud of the decision we made. Isaac will make a great Army dentist!

For those of you who don't know, which you should by now, I am a Kentucky Wildcats fan. If you don't know what that means, ask someone who does. We are a little obsessed with out Cats, especially the basketball playing ones. Last night, the prime time game for ESPN, playing against our little brother down south, a record was broken. Jodie Meeks scored 54 points to break the 39-year-old school record of 53 points by Dan Issel. DAN ISSEL. aka "The Man" of Kentucky Basketball. It was awesome! I had so much fun watching the game and sports center last night. And sports center this morning.

Christmas in Hawaii

I finally feel like my life is back in order. There is nothing like traveling across the country into a timezone 5 hours different, where no schedule is needed, that will throw everything off! We had a wonderful time! This was most definitely my favorite trip to Hawaii that we have taken, because I got to share it with my husband! I was finally able to share a place that I grew up loving with someone I love! Cheesy, I know :D
I flew back to Lexington on the 14th and left with my family on the 16th for Hawaii. Isaac had finals so he flew out a week later from OKC (school always gets in the way of fun!). My family and I spent 2 days on Oahu to see Pearl Harbor and the Polynesian Cultural Center, which we have never done! We figured it was about time. The vacation REALLY started when we got to our favorite island, the Big Island. We stay on the Kona side in a condo. The weather is perfect there and you never have to worry about rain, as it only rains 10 inches a year on that side. Isaac flew in on the 21st and within an hour he was eating a delicious brunch at the Four Seasons. He was in heaven!

When we go to Hawaii, we don't really do much. We take walks, play some tennis, go to the beach for a few hours each day, eat lots of great food, watch tv and movies, read, and take lots of naps. It is so relaxing, because that is what vacation is all about! We have some very good family friends from DC that go every year because the husband/dad is from there. Each time we go we really enjoy their company and look forward to spending time at the beach, Christmas Dinner and hanging out.
Some of our favorite things in Hawaii are eating buttered coconut pies from a local bakery (and dad wonders why he gained so much weight haha) in Wiamea, snorkling at Kealakakua Bay, eating at Kamuela Deli and Huggos, and walking the King's Trail.

One thing that was added to our vacation this year was a very addicting show. Jack Bauer was introduced to my family last summer and my parents gave Isaac and me the first season when the came to visit so that over the vacation we could watch season 2 together. We ended up watching seasons 2 AND 3 and immediately started 4 when we got back to Lexington! Don't worry, we didn't waste any daylight watching it :) Thank you Clinton for introducing us to the most amazing man to ever live. Jack Bauer is my hero!

We got back to the mainland on Januaray 3rd. While we were very sad to leave, we were ready to come home. I am so grateful for my parents for taking us with them this year! It was a great Christmas present. Isaac and I can't wait to go back soon!

Mele Kalikimaka and Happy New Year(almost)! I hope all of you had a great Christmas and got to spend time with family and friends. Isaac and I are in Hawaii for the holidays and having a great time. I got here on the 15th with my family and Isaac joined us on the 21st (just in time for my birthday!). We head back to the mainland after the new year. It has been wonderful! Isaac has really enjoyed his frist trip to paradise. I'll put up a few pictures and write more about our vacation later.

Isaac finished his first semester of dental school! He did so well and his grades were very good. He is so happy to be done and is able to relax for a few weeks. When we get back to Oklahoma, he is going down to San Antonio with 2 other classmates, Brent and Dave, to do their physicals for the military. After that we should find out if we got accepted!

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I would have put pictures up sooner, but Isaac's camera has yet to be found.. hmm... SO I stole these from Tim and my mom. While we were home, we spent half the time up in Dayton with Isaac's family and the other half in Lexington. While there was a lot of driving in between, we really enjoyed hanging out with family and friends. The Ohio State game was AWESOME! tOSU KILLED Michigan and we had great seats (Thanks Beth and John!!). We also went to a UK basketball game and got to actually see a W haha. AND one morning we got to go PLAY basketball IN RUPP ARENA!! Thanks Dad for having "all roads lead through you" :D For those of you who don't know what the big deal is, ask a UK fan :) The food was great, too. My mom cooked a Thanksgiving dinner for us on Tuesday night and then we had our other Thanksgiving on the real day. A MILLION thanks to my sister-in-law Mel for her hard work and delicious food that she made, it was a success! I really enjoyed the time spent with both families. Although I can't wait to move back home, it was really nice coming back to Oklahoma. I really have come to love it here more and more, and that is definitely in part to my family and friends here. You guys are awesome!! Here are some pictures, hopefully we'll get more up soon :)

We are leaving town to go home in a few days! Since it's going to be crazy with work, school, and packing, I wanted to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving a little early! I am so SOOOO excited to go home to spend time with both of my families. We will be spending time in both Lexington and Dayton throughout the 10 days we will be gone. I'm not a horrible sister, I DO know that my sister's birthday was on the 8th and i DID wish her a happy birthday on time :) This blog post about her is just a little belated.

Alex is amazing! I can't believe she is 18 already, I feel like I was just that age. I chose this picture because it shows something I love about her, and that's her dedication to education. My sister is VERY intelligent and I am so proud of all she has accomplished. She graduated early and is currently studying Spanish down in Argentina. But not only is she intelligent, she is cute, funny, athletic, witty, and a blast to be around. She is one of the most loyal people I know. Because of our age difference we weren't super close growing up, but I couldn't have done a lot of things I did without her. She was my wingman (woman) in basketball and the Thomas duo will go down as one of the best ever. She helped me many, many times with my school work and provided much entertainment for our family :) She was also very good in teaming up with me to convince our parents for whatever it was we wanted haha. Thank goodness we have friends that we can hang out with too because we ran out of places to hide. Later that night we went to play settlers and Isaac won! Katrina's winning streak was ended.. although next time the girls will do MUCH better haha.

Big River

Friday night we went to go see Big River! This musical is about Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer and Huck's runaway slave Jim. My parents first saw this a LONG time ago in Lexington and fell in love with the music. Growing up, our family would listen to the soundtrack all the time and I always wanted to go see the play. A few years ago it was playing again over in DC so my parents took my sister and me over there and we loved it too! Then, last week I found out my school was putting it on, so Isaac and I went! If you ever hear of this playing near you, you should go. It's funny and the music is great!

my first apple pie

Today I made my fist apple pie!! My mom makes the best apple pie ever, it's perfect. So I think that's why I've never tried, because she always makes them! But now I don't live in KY with my mom to make delicious pies and cookies, and I have a husband who "NEEDS" to have sweets :) We got an apple-peeler-corer for our wedding and it got left at my parents house so now that I have it, I ventured into my first pie making experience. I consider myself a pretty good cook and able to follow a recipie, but baking is a whole other level of cooking. Even Rachel Ray is bad at baking!

It came out of the oven about 2 hours ago, but it really has to cool down before we can eat it. I'll let you know how it turns out :D

P.S. It is DELICIOUS!!! My mom always said the best apple pie is based on how you make the crust and mine turned out great! This is what Isaac said: "You know what this means, you will have to make lots of pies now!" I'll take that as a compliment :)

Last weekend my parents came in town to visit! We got to spend 3 fun days together! They came in on Friday and left Sunday afternoon. We had such a great time going out to eat and watching football. Sat. night OU was playing Nebraska, which is a HUGE rivalry (even though Nebraska hasn't been so great recently) and my dad, like always, got us some great seats for the game. Although I am quite partial to SEC football, especially UK, I was impressed by the love Sooner fans have for their football team! It's a great stadium to watch football in. There is a steep incline so that even lowers are good seats (If you have been to the Tennessee stadium, it's kinda like that). Anyway, I'm so grateful that my parents were able to come out and visit! Can't wait for Thanksgiving and Christmas!!

Also on Saturday, Isaac's dad Harold came into town! Mike, my brother-in-law got called to the high council so Harold came in to ordain him to a High Preist. Harold left on Tuesday (had to get back to vote, his vote counts a lot in Ohio! but to no avail...) but we had a fun time together! He tried to teach us how to play bridge (impossible btw) and Monday night for FHE we all went out to Braums for ice cream! I love my family and I can't wait to spend more time with them during the upcoming holidays.

here are some random updates on our lives since I haven't blogged in awhile:

-Isaac passed his midterms without having to drop out (yay!). now on to looking forward to finals.. ick.

-I am doing very well in school, I'm only taking a few classes and i get bored in class.
-Isaac is doing "somewhat" well in his fantasy football and college pick 'em.
-I am really enjoying work! I work for a driving school (no, i'm not a driver just a receptionist!) 2 days a week. When I interviewed for the job i found out that the owner is a member of our church and so are all the drivers except 2. So that's pretty fun!

-Isaac and Mike kicked some butt on Starcraft today (wives, don't let your husbands play this, it is a relationship/marriage killer. ask my sister-in-law mel :))
-I just finished the second book by the "Kite Runner" author, it's called "A Thousand Splendid Suns". I HIGHLY recommend it! I am now reading "Stolen Innocence" which is a book by a girl brought up in the FLDS church who left it. So far, so good!

-Isaac is very excited to go to the game he has always wanted to see in person: tOSU vs. Michigan in the 'shoe!

-Both of us are very excited to see my parents this weekend, and then Isaac's dad is coming out later!

here's another tag! this one was from Laura Brown. I actually really like doing these things because I'm not a very reflective person, so these make me reflect a little and have fun looking back!
(I decided to add some pictures to this one.. Ones without tend to get boring to me lol)

3 Joys:
1) Isaac - He is the love of my life. I grew up having certain qualities I wanted in a husband and I found those and so many more great ones in Isaac. He is fun, sweet, friendly, patient, spiritual, and everything else wonderful!
2) Family- I have the best family ever. I have such a close relationship with my parents and sister, and not to mention my 20+ first cousins. I love how much fun my family has together. I love my newly inherited family too. I have wonderful brothers and sisters-in-law and great parents-in-law.

3) Religion- I never understood how important my religion was to me until this past year, well really this last summer. I have been able to married for all time and eternity to my husband. Also, I moved away from home where I knew NO one excpet my husband, and have found great friends who are members and an awesome ward. I love the truthfulness of the gospel and the camaraderie of the church memebers.

3 Fears:
1) That someone close to me will die without warning.
2) That I won't get into dental hygiene school.
3) Flying. I love to travel, and have traveled just about everywhere, but I am TERRIFIED of flying. I always think I'm going to die or the plane will blow up in the middle of the sky or we will crash. The flight a few years ago out of LEX didn't help matters.

3 Goals:
1) To finish my education, and get into the dental hygiene program.
2) To continue travling for the rest of my life!
3) To live in Lexington, Kentucky and then build our house on the family farm in Nicholasville.

3 Obsessions/Collections:
1) The Kentucky Wildcats. You name it, I love it. I love to watch them play, listen about them on the radio, look at old pictures, collect memorabilia, go to games, wear UK stuff, etc. We are the best and most passionate fans in the world and I am one of those obsessive crazies. Hey, we just got a solid verbal from 5 star center Daniel Orten! GO BIG BLUE!!
2) Eating. But really, my obsession with food is a healthful one. I love to try new foods, go out to new restaurants, find hole in the wall places in each new place I go to. I love to cook all types of foods, especially Indian and Thai.
3) Shopping. I LOVE LOVE LOVE to shop. I don't do much now, if any, because of our tight budget. But as soon as soon as we get out of school, I will be shopping more :D I am not an impulse buyer and I don't spend more than I have, I just really love new clothes!

3 Random Facts:
1) I love to play the piano and sing. I'm not the best singer, but I consider myself a good piano player. I loved my years in high school singing in the Lafayette Chorale and Madrigals. But, you will never find me singing a solo haha.
2) I got kicked out of BYU. long story, and it's pretty funny now!
3) I drive a pontiac G6. It's the best car ever. Thank you mom and dad!

3. There is a hole in the wall mexican grocery store that also has a few tables to order food at right around the corner from our apartment. Isaac and I ate there last night and it was DELICIOUS!
4. This didn't happen yesterday, but my friend Keri had her baby! Her name is Brinkley!!
5. I procrastinated my homework and studying for OChem by watching football alllll day long. Surprise, surprise
6. I cleaned up the house a bit.
7. umm... OK our saturday's consist of watching football. So, 2 days ago, Isaac and I went to the DMV to get his new license and register to vote. MCCAIN 08!
8. I surfed people's blogs, facebook, and craigslist. Pretty much what I do everyday :D

3. A trip down to Argentina to visit my sister, eat some empanadas, and go to a tango.
4. I would love to take cooking classes. I love to try new things and I love all types of food, I just want to learn how to make some!
5. A piano. I didn't realize how much I would miss just being able to sit down and play..

On Friday night Isaac and I went over to Jordan and Katrina's house. They invited our dental school group of friends over to watch the BYU/USU game (Jordan and Katrina went to USU). While the guys watched the game, the girls played some pretty intense card games! We are so happy to have made such great friends here!

Patrick Patterson will be sporting an afro this year and I found out from reading the Herald-Leader (http://www.kentucky.com/232/story/542196.html). Seriously, the HL wrote about PPat's HAIR?! Yes, they did, because as Kentuckians, we can't get enough about out CATS. Whether it be how much weight they have gained/lost, new uniforms, and even their hairstyles.

4. What does he do that surprises you? He brings me home my favorite drink, Coke, that he gets from the pharmacy students randomly. And I love when I find my coke in the fridge!

6. What's your favorite quality about him? How fun he is. He always makes me laugh and always makes me happy by being fun and funny.

It's football time!

Each Saturday, we have a pretty set schedule. And it all revolves around one thing: college football. Of course Isaac LOVES football, and I also like to watch it with him (I would like it more if I could watch UK play here). Isaac made an online College Pick 'Em, that his brothers, Eric (Mike's CPA), my parents, and I are in, which makes each Saturday even better because we really have something to root for when our teams aren't playing. We all are constantly texting and calling all day about score updates, amazing plays, etc. Isaac and I usually start out watching from our apartment, and then later on at night we end up at Mike and Laura's to watch the big game. From then it goes like this..

I start getting bored, and paint my nails or read Martha Stewart Magazine.

Mike falls asleep on the couch, and Heidi follows.

All while Isaac contiunes to watch on Mike's awesome big screen TV (sometimes they have their 2 big screens up, playing 2 different games. Isaac is in Heaven).

It is the best way to spend Saturday's in the Fall, with football and family!

Bricktown

Last night, Isaac and I went down to Bricktown in OKC. It's just a really nice and pretty place to walk and there are canals through it, restuarants, shops, etc. We wanted to get out of the house and do something, because we find ourselves staying in every night and watching the many tv shows we love. We didn't end up eating down there, although there are a lot of good restaurants, because I had already made dinner. But I couldn't pass up a Starbucks strawberries and creme frappuccino! They are super delicious, and one of the few things we can get there :)

Air Force?

This past Monday the Air Force recruiter came to the OUHSC to talk to the dental students about the option to be in the Air Force after school. The biggest benefit would be that all of our tuition would be paid for (and it's out of state, which is not very cheap), we would recieve a monthly stipend for living expenses, free healthcare, etc. So yes, it would seem obvious to do it, based on the great finacial benefits. BUT, I don't want my husband to be shipped off to the Middle East and die. OK, that probably wouldn't happen, he would only be working on a base and the longest he could get sent off would be for 6 months. So basically, we would owe the Air Force 3 years after Isaac finishes school. We would move to where ever they need us (you get to put your top three places of where you would prefer to go). We still have a lot of questions and will have to pray about it, but right now it seems like we are leaning towards that option. If you know anyone who has done it, or heard things from people, please let us know! We would love the insight!

Traveling

One thing that I am very passionate about and LOVE to do is travel! I was fortunate growing up to have a family that loves to travel and was able to. A few months ago Isaac and I made a list of places that we wanted to go to, and one of them is Honduras. I love Honduras, my dad traveled down there for work for a while a long time ago, and we went with him a few times. Honduras has the second best diving reef in the world, Roatan, so in the summer of 2010, we are going! It's 35,000 skymiles on Delta to go, and right now I have almost 50,000 and Isaac is only a few thousand away from 35,000 himself. And after the Hawaii trip this Christmas, Isaac will have enough! We wanted to go next summer (2009) but our student loans that we get in January have to last us until August instead of the beginning of June when he gets out of school, we'll have to work so that we can pay the bills and all that fun stuff :)

I absolutely love love LOVE to travel! I am so excited to be able to travel with Isaac and show him all the fun and cool places I've been, as well as new places neither of us has ever been to! After the Honduras trip, our next trip will be the "Isaac graduated from Dental School..Let's celebrate!" trip. We have a few ideas about where we want to go: Italy and Greece (neither of us has been there) or Thailand. Of course, my parents want us to go to Thailand so they have an excuse to go over there! There are so many wonderful places in this world, and so little time to see them all. We have a few places that we will be going in the next year: This Thanksgiving we get to go back to Kentucky and Ohio (YAY!! I love going back home!!), Hawaii (Isaac gets to join in on the Thomas Family tradition of celebrating Christmas without snow!), and next March going to St. Pete, FL for the SEC Basketball Tournament. We are so excited for our upcoming vacations!

Hurricane Ike Sebourn

Growing up, Isaac's nickname was Ike. So when we first saw that Hurricane Ike was coming in after Hurricane Gustav, Isaac was pretty proud of himself. He was a force to be reckoned with! Well... Ike kept getting bigger and bigger and was tearing up Cuba and the gulf area. A few people, like me and Isaac's brother Mike, sent Isaac texts about it and the response was "I know, I'm dangerous like that!". Yes, Isaac, all 140 lbs of him, standing at 5'11", is VERY intimidating! :) I love my husband, and someday when he needs to be intimidating like to our daughter's boyfriends or our sons, he will be :)

Isaac is the nicest guy ever and would never hurt anyone! Unfortunately Ike did a lot of damage and we hope that everyone in that area is safe and they will be able to return home as soon as possible!

Fridays are my favorite school days of the week! Isaac doesn't have class! He does, but it's broadcasted online so he can stay home and just watch it here. So, to celebrate being together during the week (he goes to school from 8-5 and I have night classes 2 days a week), we made crepes. Crepes are one of my favorite breakfast foods ever. Actually, they are probably one of my favorite foods, not just breakfast. Growing up we used to make them all the time with our crepe maker (yes, they do exist) and I introduced this wonderful piece of kitchen equipment to Isaac :) They are so easy to make and sooo delicious! We picked out some strawberries and peaches, powdered sugar, nutella, and had oursleves a wonderful breakfast!

I feel, so far, that the second blog is the hardest one. Because in the first one all you are doing is saying "I'm new to the blogging world". So what am I going to do in this one? Nothing new or exciting has happened since I started this last night, but I'm so excited about being a "blogger" that I wanted to do something :) So I guess I will just give a little info about Isaac and me!

We met back in January of 2007 in our anatomy class at BYU. We were in the same lab and on the first day of lab, we were sitting next to each other (not a coincidence I came to find out, I was the "cutest girl in class" haha) and as we were going around the room introducing ourselves, we found out that we grew up only about 1 1/2 hours from each other! Isaac is from Dayton, OH and I'm from Lexington, KY. Well, we started talking about all the cool and fun things back east that we both loved, like King's Island, the Reds, Skyline Chili, etc. and we became fast friends! I wasn't looking to date anyone, as I had just sent off a missionary (I know, poor guy, dating a girl who is at BYU while on his mission) and because I had told Isaac that I had a boyfriend, we just became good friends. Welll... good friends became crushes and that became a couple :) I mean, studying cadavers is soo romantic! haha.

Our first time hanging out outside of class or studying, we did something that we are both passionate about-- sports. It was March Madness, and we got together to watch the BYU basketball game and then the Ohio St. game that followed (Isaac loves his Buckeyes). It was kinda funny because we were sitting on the couch in his apartment, on opposite sides, and nervously talking and not knowing what to do. HAHA! After about a week of hanging out every few days, it became every day. We could not get enough of each other! I had never met someone so like me and we had so much fun together. Well, the semester was coming to a close and that meant I was leaving Provo to go back home to Kentucky. Isaac took me to the airport and when we finally had to separate at security, I knew there was something extra special between us.

4 months is a LOOONG time when you are apart from your best friend and someone you really, really, really like (that's what we would say to each other before we said the "L" word hehe). Isaac had booked a flight to come out to visit before I left Utah, and finally when June rolled around, he was in Kentucky with me! We had a wonderful week together and my mom gave her stamp of approval. The next time I was going to get to see him was in August when he was coming out with his brother and sister-in-law to Lexington, when his brother started Law School at UK. Throughout the summer we talked every night for at least 2 hours, we talked during the day online, and texted constantly (thank goodness for unlimited texts!). Our relationship grew so much because of how well we got to know each other.

Finally, August came! We got to be together and we were leaving around the same time to go back to Utah. We picked up right where we had left off and everything was great. Now of course, because of how in love we were, we talked about marriage.. a lot :D Isaac was going to start dental school that next fall and so we felt like that next summer (2008) would be perfect. We got engaged (after me wondering, when am I going to get my ring?!? haha) in January of '08 and then on June 14th we were married in the Louisville, Kentucky Temple!

I am so lucky to have my best friend as my husband. We are now in Oklahoma, where Isaac is attending OU for dental school, and I am also in school finishing up my degree. We are having a fun time, especially hanging out with Isaac's brother, Mike, and his family!

long time reader, first time blogger

so, this is my first time blogging. i have read a lot of my friend's and family's so i decided to do it because, well everyone else does, and it looks like fun! i used to be a big journal writer and then something happend-- life. things happened besides having different crushes and whatever else i, as a teenage girl, wrote about. so this is my new kind of journal! before i decided to actually do this i thought, what the heck am i going to write about? is my life that interesting that other people want to read and comment on? well, mabye i'll just make my life really cool haha. i like the whole idea of blogging and putting up pictures and also seeing what is going on in my friends' lives, so... here we go!
